Sharon’s recipe for success
If anyone can feed an Army, it is Sharon Hitchcox. The 41 year old is used to helping Staffordshire and West Midlands cadets with military training but is now becoming more accustomed to slaving over a hot stove.
The mother of two, from Walsall, is the first Army Cadet Instructor to pass the TA Unit Catering Course. Sharon from Walsall is a member of B Company based in Wolverhampton, and over the last 15 months she has successfully completed 5 Territorial Army Courses at Grantham.

Sharon who joined the Cadets in 2006 said “I have always enjoyed cooking. I did want to be a chef in the Army but it did not quite work out. Now I get to work in the kitchen all of the time and I find it very rewarding and fun, it’s great.”
Sharon pictured below had the opportunity to feed Maj General M Rutledge when he visited Exercise Blue Knot III which was held at Sennybridge on the 15 - 17 May 2009.

Sharon cooks for up to 100 cadet’s most weekends at the Forces Centre for Adventure on Cannock Chase.
Sharon added “I’m doing what I always wanted to do, at times it can be very tiring and a lot of hard work is required, but I love the challenge and am proud to be the first Adult to pass the UCM course.”
