Army cadets return from fun - packed Summer Camp
Making a change from the streets of Staffordshire and the West Midlands, young army cadets have recently returned home from 8 days summer camp at an army training camp in Devon. More than 650 cadets and Instructors from Staffordshire & West Midlands (North Sector) Army Cadet Force (ACF) visited Okehampton Training Camp to take part in exhilarating, fun and challenging adventurous training activities and military exercises for their annual summer camp. Meet the Lord Lieutenants’ Cadet for Staffordshire
A Ceremony held at the Council Buildings in Stafford marked the beginning of a busy year for a Staffordshire Army Cadet after being invested as the new Lord Lieutenants’ Cadet. His duties will involve accompanying the Lord Lieutenant on Royal visits and other high profile events. Read more »
Midlands Soldier 2011
Monday 7th March to Friday 11th March 2011, Site 4 at MOD Stafford the County assisted in hosting the largest Army careers exhibition in the West Midlands.
More than 140 trades were represented – engineers, carpenters, IT specialists, telecoms operators, medics, drivers, mechanics to name but a few – as well as military equipment such as tanks, the latest communications hardware and a soldier’s kit.
Midlands Soldier gave teachers and students the opportunity to find out more about the Army’s commitment to Apprenticeships.
More than 5,000 soldiers will complete Apprenticeships this year, meaning that they are better equipped for their chosen trade in the Army, and in civilian life once they leave.

New Commandant appointed to County
Col KJ Knutton from Tamworth has served with the Army Cadet Force for 37 years 5 of these as a cadet. In his long outstanding service Col Knutton has been a Detachment Commander of Rugeley, Abbots Beyne and Tamworth, before moving in to a Company position where he has held various appointments including DofE Officer, Training Officer, Adjutant, Company Commander and Deputy Commandant before taking his new appointment of Commandant on 06 January.
